Term I Parent/Teacher Conference

Recently at my school we had Parent/Teacher Conferences for Term 1. It was a Wednesday and I had dance from 7:00 to 8:00. My parents' conference was a little past 7 o'clock. I got back from dance and asked how the conference went without my presence. I found their story quite entertaining!

As planned they got to my school, parked the car, entered the building, blah blah blah! The door which they had come through was the main office door, where the principal was guiding the parents. So they went and asked the ----
Oops! I forgot to get to one point. My parents are Indian. They grew up in India, speak an Indian language and etc. Even though they have lived in America for more than a few years, they have a strong Bengali accent. The accent prohibits them from pronouncing some words correctly. Back to the story! (BTW, my teacher's name is Mrs. Mallon (MAL-lin)

So they go ahead and ask the principal: "Where is Ms. Mallone (maal-LOAN) 's class room?" Well before I go on there is some 'background knowledge'. There is a 5th grade teacher at our school named Mrs. Mallon and a 4th grade teacher name Mrs. Malone (ma-LOAN). I even told my dad that there are two teachers with these names so he needs to make sure he pronounces my teacher's name correctly.
Our principal, on the other hand, looked at them with a confused look. The problem was my dad's pronunciation was in between both teachers. The principal guessed what teacher they were talking about and sent them to ---- guess where? Mrs. Malone, the 4th grade teacher!! So they went to the wrong classroom and saw that they weren't on the parent list! Well, then (thankfully) my dad realized they came to the wrong classroom (Whew!) And they found the way to get to MY classroom in time.
As my classmate would say: "This calls for Cake!

Veterans Day

In the U.S., Veterans Day is an important holiday. Veterans Day is a day where people celebrate the lives of Veterans that served in the army, navy, air force and marines. They served our country and fought for liberty and freedom. Many people have Veterans in their families and Veterans Day is the day they praise them. Without Veterans, the US would be very different and would change the lives of many people. It would change the lives of the citizens and immigrants. When we feel proud of America  we need to think about the Veterans who made America into who she is. So, if you don't have work or school on this day, think about why. Thank the Veterans for helping our America.

In remembrance of Veterans I painted my nails red, white and blue:

Thank you Veterans!

Earthquake

An earthquake has occured at my house on October 16 2012 at 7:39...

It was 4.6 magnitude and it felt like a stampede. No big trucks went down and we thought something big happened. I am just shocked. Watch the news and I felt it. I'll give more details later

A Super Long Chemical Name

What is it?? ....

Methylchloroisothiazolinone. I know they're are longer chemical names, but this is the longest chemical name I've actually seen written in the ingredient list. The story goes,

It was a winter day, very cold, snow on the ground and a really good day for a warm shower! A couple months ago we were given 2 bottles of sparkling, soap with a beautiful aroma. One was called the gingerbread girl and the other the gingerbread man. It smelled like fresh ginger bread cookies. Well on that winter day, I used the last drop of the gingerbread girl soap! After that bath, my mother was about to through it away! I immediately stopped. I used the excuse I always do. " I'm gonna use it for something!" She always gave me a short lecture about how it just makes more junk in the house. But magically she didn't say no! She said okay and handed me the empty bottle. As she walked away to do her work, I ran to the bathroom closing the door behind me. Since I really lied about needing it, I needed to find a way to let it last. At first I carefully washed out the bottle, and then regretted it. I forgot since it was a bottle of soap, every time I washed it, more bubbles would make a mess out of it. Finally, after a long repetitive process I found a way to clean the inside with out getting it wet. After that, I just went to my bedroom and sat on the bed with the bottle in my hand. I reread the title, description, an captions on the front that I read so many times before. After moments of waste I finally ( don't know why I didn't to it before ) flip over the bottle to find the real facts!!!! The first thing that came to my eye was the ingredients. Before it came to the super long chemical name, I read other confusing words. Then it came, the chemical that started this post... METHYLCHOROISOTHIRAZOLINONE!!!!!!

Well, then you know the rest of the story. I came to write this. That's all I needed to say. Anyways, if you really are interested in what it means I could tell you....

To LOOK ON GOOGLE!

HAHAHAHA

BTW, the real story wasn't interesting enough to write, so I kind of modified it.

Q: Why do you write poems on your blog?

A: Actually, there is no very specific answer to the question. Updating my blogs, is a hobby of mine and a very important one. Problem is the topics refuse to come to my mind but you can't ignore your blog for that reason! FYI, I came to write this one with some help from friends (that includes my mom). So let us get to the main idea of the question ( main ideas in questions is unheard of, but whatever!). Why poems? Because I write them. In my head that would make sense and I would go OH!!, but I'm not sure that would occur to you  'cause I am definitely crazy and different minded. What would you call that? We're getting off topic. So let me explain in a way you will understand, or at least I'll try to.

Once upon time there was a --- Maybe that was a little... Um...  I don't know! Okay, so one day at school we were talking about writing a book about anything. Sports Book, Fantasy Book, Cooking book. Well why not Poems! I love to write poems but once again I need a topic. I thought back to my favorite poem authors that include Jack Prelutsky, Shel Silverstien and more. I wrote my poems as if I were one of them. Then it came to me. All I need is the topics. I have the capability to write and to rhyme. I don't really have to think about that. One rhyme, and BAM! A poem. It's as easy as that. But where is that one rhyme,? Where is that thought? Exactly. So back to the Blog thingy. Some People might of found the answer by now, but if you don't then here it is: If you mix Updating Blog + Poems = Poems That Update My Blog. And I know, that many people out there are going to think I am selfish because "I was impressed with my own poems."... But, only because I didn't write poems in a long, long time. ( I can tell that all those "people who thing I am selfish" are in great relief with that reason!)

PS: I hope you understand that I wrote this, so that I can get more topics for you!

PSS: Okay, that is not completely true.

PSSS: Fine! This is for all the honest people out there! *sigh*  That wasn't true at all...

PSSSS: I tried to explain the PSs, so you can understand them! I think I did a good job! : )

PSSSSS: Sorry for all the PSs!

My poems

The Blackberries are Gone!

The blackberries are gone
and the fridge is still wide open
Where the scent is coming from
they don't think it's where it happened
We checked the dog and tried my sister
but we didn't find a clue
we studied the beef and surveyed the carrots
and there was nothing in the stew
We inspected the bedrooms, doors, walls and rugs
Also the TV, couch and closets
We examined the showers, toilets, dishes and mugs
and especially the leaky faucet
We checked every corner, every inch
for the blackberries were gone
I was very sure that they would know soon,
I knew it wouldn't be long
They don't know how long it took
to get this very good thought
Where didn't we already have a look?
The question was as hard as a rock
Thats all they needed to know
Then my big burp tells about the fact
to figure out that all of the blackberries
had gone to my stomach

There is a Zebra in My House

There is a Zebra in my house
and it's running all around
I can't get it stop for
a euro or a pound.
It's messing with the pots and pans
and it's making me quite dizzy
For it will never halt I know
I am getting very tizzy!
The Zebra's cooking food, paying taxes
and is jumping from door to door
It is cleaning rooms, wiping walls
and is sweeping the dirty floors
It can organize and make things shine
in an extraordinary pace
I can bet you it'll be first
in any neat freak race
It wears stripes from head to toe
Although you might be misled wrong
It's not quite a real Zebra
It's my one-and-only mom!

15 Minutes of Freedom

15 minutes of freedom is what I call fun
for I will tell you some of the things
that are usually done
In football, half the people
come in bruised, scarred and bleeding
Trust me, there's no chance
of a little outdoor reading
I can pretty much count 6,7,8
games of tag
Playing back and forth
Whoa! You might want to move back
On the basketball court generally
8 kids are on the ground
The ball always goes out
because kids are shoving up and down
The soccer field is a
very muddy disastrous place
For you can clearly see
that there are footprints on most player's face
Beware of chinese jump roping
it looks harmless but oh, it's rough
Tripping, falling and so much
“It's my turn! Back off!
Climbing trees and falling down
Or swings that go too high
Stand aware of bouncy balls
that suddenly go whizzing by
Ascending up slides are common
And getting hit on monkey bars
Flying through outer space or
even falling off of Mars
So if you want to watch this theatrical drama
then here is the best place to come
We all call this time our
15 minutes of freedom!

Nine Pigs are Dancing

Nine pigs are dancing,
as the lions sing and cheer
For the magical disappearing
elephants have teleported here
The hippos played the drums and
the monkeys clash there symbols
All of the whales are given
triangles as small as tiny thimbles
The giraffes played the xylophones
And the piano was saved for the crocs
the birds chirped the tune
they cuckooed at there clocks
The dogs were the DJs until
the ball was ready with couples
By the time they started the
cheetah’s weight had doubled
Every animal was here
at the party of their lives
But just one had not
because my stomach kept all the butterflies

I Think my Trainer Likes Veggies
I thing my trainer like veggies
It's is quite easy to see
Why don't you listen
to some of the tips he told me
“You have to be tougher than rhubarbs,
and shiny like tomatoes,
You have to smell like crispy radishes
And dress like sweet potatoes
You have to run as fast as carrots
and jump as high as beans”
You do understand
that's not as easy as it seems
“Don't get fat as big, plump eggplants,
just stay slim as a little leek
Stay as strong as all the garden squash
not a cucumber that is weak”
Unusually all his tips worked
but don't ask me how
I regret that I stopped training
because I turned into a cow

Dream #2

This is my second dream. It took place at my school. FYI: It's slightly confusing because it is a dream inside a dream.

It was lunch time and I dozed off... into a deep, deep sleep. The deep sleep was interrupted by a dream coming. The cafeteria's noise wasn't affecting me at all.
I started in a deep jungle. I could hear the squawking and rustling noise. I was on the damp earth. As I got up I stared at my new surrounding.
At the same time I slowly got up at the cafeteria. My eyes were shut close. My sleep walking appearance disturbed half of the cafeteria. My teacher was staring at me as if I was E.T. My quick head movements softened as if I was watching my back.
Back in my dream in the jungle I was watching for any dangerous creatures. I kept walking in the jungle pushing away leaves and large plants. I looked up to see tree canopies.
In the cafeteria, everyone was staring at me as I mysteriously walked around pushing away invisible plants.
I wasn't watching where I was going as I crashed into a tree covered with moss and jungle vines. As I heard a growl I froze as I spotted a bright yellow coat with spots prowling nearby.
Now even the teachers were gaping at me. I crashed into a window stumbling back. I heard the teachers mumble two boys and two girls to try to awaken me.
I slowly stepped away but I something bumped into me. I burst into running the opposite direction. I climbed onto a small plant but it fell down. So I kept running as fast as I could. Once I thought I had lost the jaguar I stopped at a jolt. A sudden bird that was speeding away from fright knocked me down.
I moved back from the teacher I bumped into one of the girls that were supposed to wake me up. I suddenly burst into running into the hallways. Some teachers in the hallways were speechless when I climbed up an unstable pole. It fell down with a crash.  I suddenly stopped without reason and the two boys crashed into me.
I realized that the jaguar was coming back. I changed my direction, running fiercely. The jaguar was nearing me and I had to do something. So I found that closest tree. My only option was to climb. I slipped and tugged pulled my self up. Branched were dropping causing so much commotion.
I left the boys in shock. The girls followed me as I started to run again. I ran into an empty classroom. The girls were worried when I was staring at the cupboard. I climbed onto the sink leaving the girls in panic. I struggled up, lifting my feet onto the cupboard. I slightly slipped but I kept going on, knocking off everything in my way. The girls started to scream as I knocked everything off.
I spotted the jaguar prowling my way. Right when it started to run a tiger attacked it. They were fighting. It seemed as the tiger was helping me so I gave a big smile and jumped of the tree. I tried to escape the jaguar as quick as I could... just incase.
The girls were backing off. The boys, who were left behind came crashing in. Hearing the girls' scream, they came rushing. The boys crashed into the girls and they all tumbled backwards. I smiled brightly as I jumped of the cupboard.
I ran all around the jungle until I was tired. Suddenly monkeys and birds were screaming at me. That's when I finally found it! I saw a glint and I immediately knew it was the golden watch I was looking for. I took my mini shovel and started to dig. Once most of the dirt was cleared out of my way I took a good look at the watch.
I started to run in the school hallways like crazy. I was running in circles. I got tired of running as I entered the teachers' room. Then I turned my head to a vent and smiled happily. The two boys and girls found me when I had taken the janitors hammer and started banging on the vent. They stared at me in horror. They were completely speechless when the teachers entered. They screamed at me and started to rip their hair put. Not only when I found a beautiful red ruby.
The monkeys and birds were silent. I ran over and pressed hard against a hard stone. There was a slot to enter the watch. When I did the stone glowed like a jewel. It opened up to a bag of precious gold and money.
The teachers fell silent. I took the gem and rushed out. This time the teachers followed me too. I pressed my hand against the wall. The wall glowed like gold. It flipped over and a collection of seven jewels stood in front of me. One gem was missing, the ruby. I inserted the ruby. Then everything went black.

I woke up from the jungle dream. The teachers had huge smiles on their face. The first thing they did was shove the worldwide newspaper in my face. The front cover's headline was: The Dream's Discovery
There was a picture of me sleeping. When I read the large article the teachers said "It hasn't been published. They want your side of the story!" I told them I didn't remember anything. When they showed me the gem collection everything came to me. The police said I could keep the collection.

What a day I thought and that's when I woke up.

Dream #1

I had a dream. Let me explain a little before I start telling you about it. I go to this school and I have these friends. This dream is about them and Miranda Cosgroves (Carly in the dream) and my bus . My school has both 5th grade and 4th grade but in my dream 6th grade had joined. Let me start.

My school had completely changed by then. A new wing was added but the wing was not like any other. It had lawns, trees, and houses. On the other side, a wall was placed with an (almost) endless row of lockers. My locker was placed across the "new" wing, next to a 5th grader girl on my bus. Strangely we had desks in our lockers. I watched Emilia, my friend accustom into her new surrounding since her locker was placed in the new wing. Her classroom was a long way from the wing. I signaled her to come over. She looked bewildered when you noticed the distance between her locker and her classroom. It took her some time to get across the buzzing hallways. Students from different grades rushed to different classrooms in different wings. Emilia ran across the hallway almost stumbling into a teacher.
I laughed when she reached me.

The day partly flew by and it was halftime. Halftime was also something new or different that doesn't happen. All the wings were bustling with excitement... except Emilia's wing. So empty, so quiet so... creepy. Half time was when all the kids got on a bus for some fresh air. The bus would just drive around the small town. When we got onto our bus it started pouring. Emilia and I sat together and went completely berserk. Our friends July and Dave were experimenting with a string. The four of us were always together.

As the bus lurched on a large bump, the two back door banged open. The bump was so sudden that Dave, July, Emilia and I flew out. Oddly no one noticed us. We landed on our feet but I got a slight cramp in my leg. When we had fallen out of the bus Dave and July's string got tangled and they couldn't get it off! They were stuck together!!! Emilia and I rolled our eyes as we watched them struggle to get it off. We didn't realize that the wind grew stronger and the rain now was as bad as a hurricane. We shivered. We couldn't keep up with ourselves. The wind was pushing us back. It was no use to fight against it. Our hearts were racing as we sat down on the side walk. We were soaked. Suddenly some one tapped us. It was Carly from iCarly!!!! We were pleased to see her because she drove us back to school. As we walked into the main lobby of the school, a table was set up with a big bowl of soup. It was a table for five. We sat down and instantly started eating. We were extremely hungry! Spencer ( from iCarly) walked in and came up to Carly. Without saying anything he left. The funniest of the dream was when Dave said Sigh-Fie, ( said like Sci-Fi) Sci-Fri! (Said like Sky-Fry)

Thats the dream.

PS: If you were wondering if Dave and July ever got out of the string, they did. It is too complicated to explain.
